Parents' Night Out

Family vacations are great. Parents have all sorts of plans to entertain the children, keep them busy throughout the day, introduce them to new things and so on. But when the sun goes down...It's OuR tImE! (Provided the kids all get worn out enough to go to bed at a decent hour.) We had so much fun getting together and playing DomMinoEs! Seeing Steve with his brothers is great! I'm not sure how his sisters survived them! (I think it probably turned into, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.") Steve & Casey are awesome dominoes players, the rest of us enjoy making fun of them about how they take it too seriously. They teach us rules that they ToTalLy make up (in MY opinion) and have terminology that no one has ever heard of. (Around these parts anyway...) They claim it's either Spanish or Portuguese. WhaTeVer!
Okay, they really are good players and I do believe what they are telling us, most of the time. But it still doesn't mean it's not weird! And of course, things are so much more fun when it's past MiDnIgHt and things include a whole lot of Mountain Dew, Diet Pepsi and CaNdY of every kind!

We ended the night (or started the morning) on a high when Stacie got her very first CapPy Cua. (How that one is actually spelled brought on a good discussion in iteslf!) Here is MY definition (and spelling):

cappy cua /'ka-pee-koo-u/ n: a move in the game of dominoes when the player can lay down his or her last ficha on either end of the big long thing where all the other fichas have been laid down, resulting in a win. The correct way to end with this kind of win is to yell out "cappy cua" and have everyone else hollar, "Ohhhh....No way!" and sometimes curse.

ficha /'fee-shu/ n: a fancy Spanish name for a domino.

fitcha /'fee-chu/ n: a fancy Portuguese word for domino.

CoNgRatUlaTioNs Stacie! You deserve a BiG GuLp with the GrAvY this time!

Oh...what can I say?? Good times!! And you explained the art of the game so very well. Although, I think the boys are full of crap when it comes to all of their ridiculous homemade rules!!

I will say though, it was nice of them to finally include the wives in the highly distinguished domino society. It was just great to spend time with them reminiscing their greatest childhood memories and witnessing the brothers interact in such kind and loving ways...can't wait to see what my boys come up with when they're adults...I'm scared :{

Thanks for the fun!! Wish you guys were closer, we love hangin' with you!!

I'm going to bed! I'm damn tired!! Oh, and just realized ten minutes ago that Coop starts school tomorrow (instead of Thursday), I'm ill prepared!

P.S. Um...how dorky am I in that picture!?! Was I high on something? Possibly the stench was getting to me!! Like roses! CaPPa KoOeY!!! (or however you sp it)
